Oppdated report from Pre FIA Main Test

and Main Event 2008.

The team was ready for testing on the Norwegian National day.
The day started with racing, and we were ready for a test
when the rain came. We waited and had almost given up when
the track finally was ready. We were the last car,
and managed to do a test run.
We started very softly, and ran a 6,1909/243,77
in our first test of the season.

We had some problems with the pistons last year,
and we had planned to go through the whole engine in
the evening. It didn’t look bad, so we decided to go for
another test on Sunday. We stepped up the car a little,
and ran a good 5,72. The smile was on again, until we
opened the engine and found destroyed pistons.
At this point we were very confused and decided to
contact our main sponsor Q8 Oils in the morning on
Monday 19th. We had a talk with Gunnar Brandstrøm
from OK - Q8 in Sweden. He did an incredible job
setting us up with a lot of people from Q8;
too many to remember all their names, but I have
to send a thank you to all that was involved.
Thanks to Petsa, (Predag Ljubinkovic), Caroline Celsing,
some from Antwerpen and at last but not at least,
Phil Davies from Q8 in Leeds, who did something that we
didn’t think was possible: he managed to make a new oil
for the Islanders Drag Racing Team in just two days;
and he had it delivered to Santa Pod at midday Wednesday.

We continued testing on Thursday, and we stepped the car
up a little more, running a good 5,68. On the second run
we had 0,9331 to sixty feet, 3,6730/200,09 mph at the eight
and a personal best 5,6377/248,61 mph at the line.
Wow, we’re back and ready for the Main Event.

Maja did many runs with her junior dragster this day,
and the only times we could see her was when see was in
the pit stop for more gasoline. She drove the junior through
16 test runs, and is now starting to get control of the car.

We soften down the car a little bit in the first qualifying
session of the year, so we could go for a good qualifying time.
That made us as number two in the first round, with the
time 5,6461/253,10 mph. The engine is in good condition and
the top speed will come; so let’s step it up for a 5,5 in
the next round.

18:05
The car seemed to leave the line as planned, with a little
bit more wheel spin and we had a  0,9605 at sixty feet,
3,6777/204,24 mph half track. It seemed to be a little
problem at the end, but we ended up with a new personal best
5,600/255,02 mph. When we checked the engine,
something had happened, Paul had finished the race with only
7 cylinders.  We had a broken lifter, but things like that happen.

We started to rebuild the engine for Sunday. The car was ready,
but we wake up to rain. The rain wouldn’t stop, so the race was
cancelled on Monday at half past 2 pm. We can’t do anything
about the weather, but we are the number one qualifier and
are now leading the FIA Championship. The race pack is now
up and working. We hope to see you all in Finland.
